The Jesse Davidson Endowment Fund

In its simplest form – an endowment is a fund that generates income in perpetuity (forever). The interest income is then used to fund the most promising Duchenne research. Grant proposals are reviewed and decisions are made by our Research Funding Advisory Committee, which is made up of scientists, parents of Duchenne boys, and Board members.

The Jesse Davidson Endowment is named after Jesse Davidson who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The endowment is the engine that drives The Foundation for Gene and Cell Therapy. This is the formal name for Jesse's Journey – which is a non-profit Canadian Registered Charitable Organization (#89509-7756-RR0001).

Through the Jesse Davidson Endowment Fund, the principal stays intact to earn interest indefinitely. The interest earned is restricted in its use and can only be used to fund research into finding a treatment and eventual cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. As the Jesse Davidson Endowment Fund grows – so does its ability to provide a perpetual source of research funding.

Since it began in 1994 Jesse's Journey has provided the scientific community in Canada and the United States with more than $2 million in research funding.
