“Walk Across Canada in a Day”
$136,674 and counting
Sponsored by:
The Walk Across Canada in a Day is the major annual fundraiser for Jesse's Journey, which funds research to find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Since our founder, John Davidson , walked across Canada (April, 1998 – January – 1999), the Jesse Davidson Endowment has been able to fund more than $3 million in research across North America.
The Walk Across Canada in a Day event is Friday, May 7, 2010 in London 's Springbank Gardens (formerly Wonderland Gardens ). Walkers can do the entire 33 kilometre route, or any part of it, raising pledges for Jesse's Journey to continue to help fund research. (The reason the walk is a 33 K route is because that is the distance that John Davidson walked each day when he walked across Canada – total distance of 8,272 kilometres!)
Businesses, schools, families, friends and co-workers are all invited to join us and we'll add the total kilometres together. Last year, we not only managed to walk across Canada – but all the way back too – and raised over $223,000! To register on-line, click here or to pledge a walker, click here or
