Defeat Duchenne. Change Lives.

Walk to Defeat Duchenne

The Walk to Defeat Duchenne presented by Sbenati Dentistry unites families from coast to coast to raise awareness and funds for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. In 1995 John Davidson pushed his son, Jesse, across Ontario. This foundational feat launched Canada’s largest movement to fund research and support families living with Duchenne. This year, we invite you to join us as the Walk celebrates the 25th anniversary of Jesse’s Journey.

Due to COVID-19, the Walk to Defeat Duchenne presented by Sbenati Dentistry has been rescheduled and will now take place on World Duchenne Awareness Day, Monday, September 7, 2020 – this means you have more time to grow your team and raise vital funds!

While this is an uncertain time for everyone, the fight to defeat the most common fatal disease diagnosed in childhood, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, does not stop. We hope you will refocus your efforts online – by encouraging your supporters to donate towards your Walk and sharing your participation on social media.

We hope to host the event in London, Ontario, along with being joined by you – families across Canada – hosting your Walk in your local community. Still, the health and safety of the Duchenne community and following the guidance of Health Canada is our priority. Please keep an eye on this page,  your inbox, and social media as we continue to communicate updates and information.

Ambassadors: King Family

“I don’t think anything can prepare you for hearing that your beautiful, innocent little child, through absolutely no fault of his own, has probably the worst disease imaginable – a fatal and slowly progressing disintegration with no cure,” says Sandra King (Mother of Dylan, 11-years old living with Duchenne)

“Through their endless commitment to raising funds to find a cure for Duchenne, Jesse’s Journey is the beacon of light in what otherwise would be a very dark place. This organization, and the people we’ve met through it, have been our most constant reminder we are not alone.”

Sponsor Highlight: Sbenati Dentistry

Sbenati Dentistry Team

Sbenati Dentistry is a dental clinic that is deeply involved in the community’s well-being. From individuals to groups, their philosophy revolves around providing a World Class Service at every encounter, within in the dental clinic or outside of it. Sbenati Dentistry believes in uplifting the strength of the individual for the collective benefit of the community. They practice this philosophy with every one of their patients, without any judgements or discrimination.

It is important for the Sbenati Dentistry team to ensure that you are at ease with both the decisions you make for your family’s dental care, and with how your treatments are provided. They understand dental anxiety because it’s something that everyone faces. The Sbenati Dentistry team has found that thorough communication, thoughtful consideration of your needs, and their compassionate nature can often ease this anxiety in others and is less likely to get in the way of obtaining the care you want and need for your smile.

Since a smile is one of the most important assets anyone can have, Sbenati Dentistry has been involved in putting smiles in the community by their financial and time contributions towards good causes such as the kid-friendly Smiles for Kids events (click the button below for their next fun event), to being title sponsors of Revvy Kevvy’s #55HoursForHope, to now having the opportunity to be the title sponsor of Jesse’s Journey’s to Walk to Defeat Duchenne. Sbenati Dentistry cares deeply about the community and every individual that makes up that community. Their motto is “To provide a World Class Dental Service at every single appointment” and they make that their mantra to provide World Class Service to the community outside of their beautiful dental clinic.
