The Walk to Defeat Duchenne unites families from coast to coast to raise awareness and funds for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. In 1995 John Davidson pushed his son, Jesse, across Ontario. This foundational feat launched Canada’s largest movement to fund research and support families living with Duchenne. This year, we invite you to join us as the Walk celebrates the 25th anniversary of Jesse’s Journey.
Due to COVID-19, the Walk to Defeat Duchenne has gone virtual and will now take place on World Duchenne Awareness Day, Monday, September 7, 2020 – this means you have more time to grow your team and raise vital funds!
While this is an uncertain time for everyone, the fight to defeat the most common fatal disease diagnosed in childhood, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, does not stop. We hope you will refocus your efforts online – by encouraging your supporters to donate towards your Walk and sharing your participation on social media.

Virtual Walk Guidelines
What is a virtual walk? Learn more about how we’re encouraging people from across Canada to join together – online! In order to keep you safe, we encourage you to refocus your efforts by choosing a location and distance of your choice. Encourage your family and friends to donate towards your Walk and share your participation on social media. Read our updated FAQ and what you can do before the event, during the event, and after to make your Walk a success!
Offline Pledge Form
Want to fundraise in person? We like it – go old school and ask for support in person or a combination of both online and offline. Print off a pledge form and start asking friends and family for support. Be sure to mail the completed form(s) and all cheque donations (made out to Jesse’s Journey) by Monday, September 7, in order for us to send your supporters a tax receipt and calculate how much you’ve raised (for your chance to win one of our fundraising prizes!).
Ambassadors: King Family
“I don’t think anything can prepare you for hearing that your beautiful, innocent little child, through absolutely no fault of his own, has probably the worst disease imaginable – a fatal and slowly progressing disintegration with no cure,” says Sandra King (Mother of Dylan, 11-years old living with Duchenne)
“Through their endless commitment to raising funds to find a cure for Duchenne, Jesse’s Journey is the beacon of light in what otherwise would be a very dark place. This organization, and the people we’ve met through it, have been our most constant reminder we are not alone.”
